There are many different types of HPV which may affect our body, including the mouth and eye. There are About 30 types of HPV that can live in and around the genital and anal area. However, most genital warts are caused by just two types of virus, HPV16 and 18.
This virus is transmitted by direct and indirect way. The most common way that virus is transmitted by is sexual contact. You may be infected by HPV through sex with an infected person.
Ways of transmission for genital warts:
(1) Direct sexual contact is the main route of transmission. Factors Increasing Risk of Genital Warts

- Multiple sex partners.
- Any previous venereal disease / STD.
- Sexual contact with unknown partners.
